Ahram Online correspondent in Sharm El-Sheikh reports a heavy guard has been put in place around ousted President Hosni Mubarak’s two sons, Gamal and Alaa, for fear of attempts to free them by force.
The prosecution has ordered them to be remanded in custody for 15 days, pending further investigation into the charges of corruption leveled against them.
It is expected that the two brothers will be transferred to Tora prison on the outskirts of Cairo where they will join a daily increasing group of the members of Mubarak regime’s ruling clique, including ruling party secretary general Safawat El-Sherif, organizational secretary Ahmed Ezz, speaker of parliament and ruling party whip Fathi Sorour, former prime minister Ahemd Nazif, former interior minister Habib El-Adly and several other government ministers and other top regime officials.
