Egypt wrestler Diaa El-Din Kamal suffered a 7-0 defeat by Iran's Komeil Nemat Ghasemi in the Wrestling 125kg round of 16 on Saturday before losing the chance to pursue a bronze medal after another defeat in the repechage.

Fellow countryman Mohamed Ali Zaghloul bowed out of the 86kg event at the same last 16 stage earlier in the day.

Kamal, 23 had demolished Tunisia's Radhouane Chebbi 11-0 in the qualifications to set up the meeting with Iran's Ghasemi – who claimed a bronze medal in the 2012 Olympics in London.

Ghasemi then went on to reach the final, giving Kamal a chance in the repechage round 1 where he lost 7-0 to Canada's Korey Jarvis.

In the 86kg category, 22-year-old wrestler Zaghloul seemed to have no chance against Venezuela's Ceballos Fuentes - who prevailed 6-0 in the round of 16.
