Egypt's undisputed number one star is ready to help the team go the extra mile and add to their record haul of seven Nations Cup trophies.

Salah has made no secret of his desire to lead Egypt to glory on home soil, having played an instrumental role in steering them to the final two years ago in Gabon by scoring two goals and providing as many assists.

He also famously contributed to ending Egypt's 28-year wait for a World Cup appearance when his last-gasp penalty gave them a 2-1 home win over Congo in a vital qualifier in late 2017.

Salah is fresh from enjoying another stellar season with Liverpool, guiding them to their first UEFA Champions League title since 2005 by scoring six goals, including a penalty in the final which set them on their way to a 2-0 win over Tottenham Hotspur.

He also finished as the Premier League's joint top scorer with 22 goals for the second season running as Liverpool narrowly finished second behind champions Manchester City in one of the most exciting races in recent years.

With Egypt still struggling for firepower upfront, Salah will be entrusted with finishing off the team's attacks, given his trademark runs behind the defence which are expected to prove a handful for opponents.

He is third in Egypt's all-time leading scorers list, having scored 39 goals in 62 appearances.

"I hope I can go on to win the Africa Cup of Nations," the 26-year-old said.
