Algerian football team JS Kabylia have been suspended by the Confederation of African Football (CAF) for two years of continental competitions after the death of Cameroonian player Albert Ebosse during a match in the Algerian League in August, Algerian newspaper El-Heddaf reported.
Ebosse, 24, was hit with a projectile thrown from the stands following his team's loss in the Algerian football championship. He was rushed to hospital in Tizi Ouzou, east of the capital Algiers, where the match took place, but later died.
JS Kabylia were ordered to play their Algerian league games behind closed doors this season by the Federation Algerienne de Football (FAF). They were due to take part in the African Champions League in 2015 before the CAF's decision as they had placed second in the Algerian League teams' table.
Moreover, the CAF executive committee decided to create a prize in the name of Ebosse to be given out for fair play in future continental tournaments.
The FAF also announced that it agreed with JS Kabylie's management to pay $100,000 to Ebosse's family alongside the remaining fees in his contract.
