After losing 2-1 to Ahly in the second leg of the African Confederation Cup semifinal in Cairo, Coton Sport coach Gomes Da Rosa admitted the Egyptians deserved their victory.
The Cameroonians opened the scoring just before the quarter-hour mark when a mix-up between defender Saad Samir and keeper Sherif Ekramy gifted Joseph Kombous an opening goal that leveled the aggregate score.
"We came to Egypt to win and reach the final and we managed to open the scoring early," Da Rosa told the post game's press conference.
Burkinabe attacking midfielder Moussa Yedan restored Ahly's aggregate advantage when he struck four minutes before the break with a superb individual effort. Striker Amr Gamal made the game safe with a late tap-in as Ahly continued their bid to become the first Egyptian side to win the tournament.
"Experienced Ahly players managed to take advantage of my players' mistakes to win the game," Da Rosa added.
"Ahly deserved to win the game and reach the final," he concluded.
Ahly reached the CAF Confederation Cup final after beating Coton Sport of Cameroon 3-1 on aggregate. The first leg in Cameroon last week was a 1-0 win for the Cairo giants.
