الشكوى لغير الله مذلة
El shakwa le gheir ellah mazallah
Translation: Complaining to anyone but God is humiliating.
Meaning: Toughen up. Even when you’re in trouble, you shouldn’t publicise your ordeals. These are between you and God, for only He can help. This saying, composed in classical Arabic and perhaps of medieval provenance, is still in use.
