The documentary Saken, which will be screened at Zawya on 14 June, tells the story of a friendship that developed between a Palestinian resistance fighter, paralysed in battle and his Egyptian caretaker.
The film explores the friendship between the two protagonists, by tracing their daily lives, alongside the sacrifices, hardships, and companionship that unfold.
Saken recently garnered the Human Rights Award at the International Documentary Film Festival at Agadir, Morocco (FIDADOC).
Sandra Madi, the film's director, is an award-winning Jordanian documentary filmmaker who studied at the Arab Institute of Film.
Madi's other works include Far Away from Here (2005), Full Bloom (2006), and Perforated Memory (2008).
