Zamalek have opened talks with 36 Lion FC concerning a possible move of the latter's striker Junior Ajayi to the Cairo giants, said the Nigerian club's president on Monday

"Zamalek are now the most serious club after Junior, but we will have to wait and see how things play out after the All Africa Games,” Liameed Gaffar, chairman of 36 Lion, told africanfootball.com.

It had been reported that Esperance and Club Sfaxien are also chasing the 19-year-old striker. But Gaffar says no agreement was reached with any of the Tunisian duo.

Ajayi is Nigeria’s U-23 top scorer, scoring eight goals in four matches so far.

Zamalek coach Jesualdo Ferreira said earlier this week that his side will have to lure an African striker to compensate for the departure of strikers Khaled Qamar and Abdoulaye Cisse.
