Amidst fears of Egypt's Islamist movement attempting to push for a religious state, the Supreme Council of Armed Forces (SCAF) issued its Communique #64, in which it assured its dedication to fulfill Egyptian aspirations to reach a civic state based on a democratic system that will provide its people with freedom and social justice.
“We are following the security agencies to recover the people’s security, which is a vital step to reach this phase’s requirements and we ask the people to support the police in combating whoever works against this security,” stated the SCAF in communique published on their official Facebook page.
Moreover, SCAF assured they would hold to account all those who were involved in corruption, and that no one was above the law.
They also asserted their support of freedom of expression to all media outlets but asked journalists to seek accuracy in their reports.
The SCAF also encouraged the “youth” to get involved in political life in Egypt, expressing their faith in the Egyptian people's awareness.
SCAF began using their official Facebook page to announce their communiques shortly after they took over the power as the ousted President Mubarak stepped down in Febraury 2011.
