الظاهر لنا و الخافى على الله
El zaher lena wel khafi ala Allah
Translation: What we can see is for us to judge and what is hidden is for God.
Meaning: In order for us mortals to judge someone, we need evidence. As for what we cannot ascertain, this would be best left for the judgement of the All-seeing. This saying seems to be suitable for judge explaining a lenient sentence.
