Ahly arrived in the United Arab Emirates on Friday to start their preparatory closed camp for the Egyptian Premier League restart.
The Cairo football giants' management decided to make use of the suspension of their league games, which was due to the players' Olympic commitments, by sending a crew of 46 people, including 26 players, to hold a camp in the UAE, as well as playing two friendlies.
The camp will conclude on 7 December and the Red Devils will start their Premier League campaign on 17 December with a match against Smouha, on the 8th matchday of the tournament.
Ahly's newly appointed coach Jose Peseiro has called up all the registered players in the squad, including injured Ahmed Fathi and Saleh Gomaa, to join the camp.
They are scheduled to play two friendlies in the Emirates, facing local team Ras AlKhaimah and Tunisian giants Sfaxien.
The Portuguese coach took up the post in October directly from the bench in the Egyptian Premier League, beginning without holding a camp to find out the players' performance.
The 55-year-old, who replaced Fathi Mabrouk at Ahly’s helm, enjoyed an excellent start to his new tenure, having led the Reds to three consecutive match wins, losing only one game.
Ahly have now slipped to seventh place on nine points after four matchdays; their matches were suspended due to that participation of some of the team's players in the national team's qualifiers for the 2016 Olympic games.
