According to the trend, the strapless princess silhouette dress was embellished by silver mirrored sequins. An image pointing out the similarity between the graceful Alicia and princess Belle from Beauty and the Beast went viral on the net even before the end of the night.

A powerful fashion statement was made by Cate Blanchett (Best Actress nominee, Carol), unofficially praised by many as the best dressed actress of the event. Observers are still uncertain though if Cate was leading the trend for blue or green color, as her dress by Giorgio Armani Prive had an icy sea foam shade that could fit into both categories.
This extravagant item decorated with voluminous flowers and feathers required the body and character to pull it off - which this established star certainly has like no other. All together, a spectacular view.

Speaking of blues and greens, they were both present in mostly rich jewel shades. A royal blue was the choice of the award-winning Brie Larson (Best Actress, Room) as well as Reese Witherspoon, and even Sylvester Stallone opted for a blue tuxedo this time.
