Zamalek midfielder Hussein Yasser has apologised for not joining the clubs’ preparations for the new season, confirming that he will join his teammates by the end of the week.
A recent dispute aroused between Zamalek and Yasser after the reports that claimed he had signed a secret two-year contract with Belgian side Lierse, after losing hope to see his overdue payments amid the club’s current financial crisis.
It seems now that the 28-year old player, who signed a 3-year-and-a-half contract with the Whites last January, has reiterated his decision to leave and will remain with the White Knights under the under new coach Hassan Shehata.
“Yasser has apologised for missing the start of our summer preparations for personal reasons. He promised he will be available for the training sessions before the end of this week,” the club said in a statement in its official website.
“If the player did not keep his promise, he will be punished and also the club will take the legal procedures that will keep its rights,” added the statement.
The Qatari international was a key member of Zamalek’s squad last season as the Cairo giants finished runners up to their arch rivals Ahly.
