An unnamed military official said that a number of rockets fired from Gaza landed across the border in Egypt early on Sunday, but there were no casualties, state television and news agency Middle East News Agency (MENA) reported.
"Several rockets from the Gaza Strip landed this morning in Egyptian territory in the region west of the Rafah terminal, without causing casualties," the television reported.
AFP said a security official confirmed that rockets had landed on Egyptian soil, but said they could have been fired by mistake.
Last week, five Egyptian soldiers were killed in Israeli border attacks. Ever since, tensions in Sinai have significantly risen.
