Activists in Bahrain say security forces have killed a 14-year-old boy during an anti-government protest.
The Bahrain Youth Society for Human Rights is citing witnesses as saying Ali Jawad Ahmad died on Wednesday after he was hit by a tear gas canister fired at close range.
Bahrain's Health Ministry has confirmed a 14-year-old lost his life but gave no other details.
The Gulf island kingdom has been gripped by ongoing clashes between police and Shiite-led protesters demanding greater rights. Shiites are the majority, but claim widespread discrimination by the ruling Sunni dynasty.
More than 30 people have been killed since protests began in February inspired by other uprisings across the Arab world.
