The Swedish-Lebanese band Sonic Groove Society will perform twice in Egypt during Ramadan.
The first concert will be at Cairo’s Darb 1718 on 15 June, part of the venue’s Mazzika x Sat7 series of performances on the roof. The second will take place the next day in Alexandria’s Bibliotheca Alexandrina on 16 June.
The band is a collaboration between 6 musicians from different musical backgrounds, “coming together to rewrite their previous experiences in different ethnic or electronic genres,” according to the event description.
The unique sound of Sonic Groove Society is a result of Swedish musician Björn Meyer's bass, the rich textures of Lebanese electronic musician Liliane Chlela, mixed with the percussions of Fouad, Fredrik Gille, Samuel Rohrer, and Khaled Yassine.
"A collective of many years, travels, sounds, grooves and experiences gets redefined and unified," the description reads.
