Wydad striker Pascal Angan
An 86thminute strike from substitute striker Pascal Angan proved to be crucial for Moroccan champions Wydad Casablanca who claimed a 1-0 win over Nigerian heavyweights Enyimba on Saturday.
The hosts were frustrated by a heroic performance from Enyimba keeper Paul Godwin who denied dangerous attempts from Fabrice Ondama, Mohsin Iajour and Ayoub Elkhaliqi.
Beninese striker Angan – who replaced Abderrahman Lemssassi in the second half – finally capitalized on the efforts of his teammates to break through in the 86thminute.
The result handed Enyimba their first defeat in the 2011 edition, leaving them with a lot of work to do during the return leg that will be held in Aba in two weeks.
