The Nile Project returns for a lineup of performances in Cairo's Darb 1718.
The project landed in Egypt after performing concerts at Lincoln Center, the Barbican and the European Union.
The open-air venue will host performances by 12 musicians from 6 countries: Egypt, Eritrea, Sudan, Ethiopia, Kenya and Uganda.
From Egypt musicians include Adel Mekha with vocals and percussion; Mohamed Ado Zekry on the Oud; Nader El-Shaer on Kawala, Keytar, Farfisa, and vocals; Ahmed Omar on Tanbour and bass; and Saleeb Fawzy with vocals.
Musicians from Ethiopia include Afework Nigussie playing the Masenko, and Selamnesh Zemene on vocals.
Representing Kenya will be Dave Otieno on electric guitar and Kasiva Mutua on percussion.
Ugandan musician Michael Bazibu will play the Entongoli, Adungu, Endingidi and percussion, while Eritrean musician Ibrahem Fanous will play the Krar.
Also performing that night will be Sudanese musician Asia Madani with vocals and percussion.
The Nile Project started in 2013 as a collective that has since grown to include 34 artists from 11 countries that share the River Nile.
The project aims to bring these musicians together to develop their sound through workshops and musical tours.
