Lierse Egyptian striker Mohamed Elgabas
Turning from hero to villain, Egyptian striker Mohamed Elgabas played a part in his team, Lierse, falling to a 2-0 home defeat against St. Truiden 2-0 on Saturday night in the 11th matchday of the Belgian Jupiler League.
Elgabas, who scored a brace last week against Zulte, was shown a direct red card in the 63rd minute after pushing Ludovic Buysens during an altercation between both players.
At that point Lierse were already one goal and a man down. Their effort to turn this match around was a valiant one but not enough to get anything out of this game after conceding a penalty to kill any hopes of a comeback.
Koen Darden and Reza Ghoochannejhad's goals gave St. Truiden their first win of the season. They remain bottom, however, of the 16-team Belgian table with Lierse two places above them, with 9 points after 11 games.
