The play Shaman, directed by Said Soliman, will open at El-Ghad Theatre next Thursday.

Sameh Megahed, El-Ghad troupe’s director, said that the play is a piece of "Dramatherapy" a form of theatre that focuses on exposing and treating psychological issues.

The play centres on psychological and spiritual disturbances in the subconscious that develop over time, from which an individual attempts to treat himself.

In the play, salvation comes through a spiritual Sufi experience, which represents innocence and love in its purest forms.

The term Shaman refers to a practitioner who enters into a state of trance during a ritual, to interact with a spiritual world and bring divination and healing energies into this world.

“It is an experimental play that the theatre is proud of presenting,” Megahed said according to Al-Ahram Arabic website.

The play stars Ziad Abo Mousa, Mai Roushdy, Mostafa El-Zayat, Shams Abdelnasser among others.

Programme:
The play will open 23 March at 8.30pm, and will run daily except Mondays.
El-Ghad Theatre, Nile Corniche, Next to El Ballon Theatre, El-Agouza, Cairo
