On 8 November, the London Design Museum launched an exhibition incorporating football, art and design.
The exhibition explores the response of ten artists to a demanding brief - to design a new football kit whilst celebrating Africa’s unique visual identity and culture.
It charts the artists’ journeys, inspirations, and design processes, demonstrating how Africa’s culture and history can be captured in both an artwork and a corresponding sportswear design.
Artists involved in the exhibition include: Barthélémy Toguo of Cameroon, Zineb Sedira of Algeria and Godfrey Donker of Ghana.
The exhibition features the artists’ original artwork and sketches alongside development work and the resulting football kits. It also explores the projects from the perspective of the artists involved, showing how their unique and individual passion for their countries influenced their designs.
The exhibition continues until 21 November at Design Museum in London. Shad Thames, London SE1 2YD.
