After spoiling the start of American coach Bob Bradley’s Egypt mission, Brazil coach Mano Menezes expressed his delight about seeing his team end the year on a high note.
''In the first half we found it difficult; we were made to work. In the second half, though, we performed a lot better,'' Menezes was quoted as saying by Sambafoot.com after the game.
Jonas Oliveira scored in the 39th and 59th minutes at Al-Rayyan Stadium to grant the Selecao a victory that crowned their efforts for the whole year.
''Looking back, it's been a great year. We've continued to grow and have finished the year well with this game,” he said.
“Gradually, we'll be adding in areas in which we need improvement, resolving the tactical issues,” the 49-year old coach added.
Egypt is scheduled to host Brazil for another friendly match in February, while Selecao captain Thiago Silva believes his national team will be better by then.
“I believe we'll get better next year,'' he said. ''We have a much better rapport – playing with the ball more, knowing where each other is on the pitch.”
