Zamalek's newly-appointed coach Ehab Galal says he takes full responsibility for Monday's 3-0 loss to archrivals Ahly in the Cairo derby, insisting that his side cannot afford to lose further points in the coming matches.

"I told my players that I take full responsibility for the loss to Ahly and that we shouldn't lose further points in the coming matches," Galal told ON Sport TV channel after the match.

Galal, who penned a one-and-a-half year contract with Zamalek just 48 hours ahead of the derby, had his debut spoiled by three Ahly goals that lifted the Red Devils to the summit of the Egyptian Premier League table for the first time this season.

"Zamalek lacked confidence against Ahly. The team needs to restore its confidence and needs much training and effort," the former Enppi coach added.

"I would like to thank my players for what they did in the match and we will work together to deliver results that are up to the standards of Zamalek.

"I haven't yet realised the weak and strong aspects of the team as I'm yet to see all the players. The team includes big names and we will see who we can work with in the next few matches," Galal concluded.

Zamalek currently lie fourth on 28 points, 11 behind Ahly who have a game in hand.
