Newly appointed coach for African champions Esperance, the Swiss Michel Decastel, has expressed his delight over his recent return to the Tunisian club after almost a decade.
"I hope to build on the amazing results achieved by the blood-and-gold club last season," Decastel said at a press conference.
The 56-year-old manager succeeds Tunisian Nabil Maaloul in the position. Maaloul retired recently after leading Esperance to clinch the Tunisian League and Tunisian Cup, in addition to the 2011 CAF Champions League.
"We have to play for four titles, starting with the CAF Super Cup,” Decastel said. “I hope we play with the same will and commitment that led the team to last year's treble.”
The former Moroccan Waydad coach, who has appointed Lotfi Qadri as his assistant, praised Esperance players, comparing them with those of Real Madrid and Barcelona in terms of their determination to land additional titles.
The former Egyptian Zamalek coach boasts vast experience in the North African footballing arena. He spent the 2002-03 season with Esperance before working from 2004 to 2008 at two other Tunisian clubs, CS Sfaxien and Etoile Sahel.
