Egyptian singer Sherine Abdel-Wahab, also known simply as Sherine, took to social media on 28 March to address her fans amid the shutdown in the country over the coronavirus outbreak, saying she “stays at home” in compliance with the protective measures currently in place in Egypt.
Sherine, who is one of the best-known Egyptian singers of her generation, posted two tweets in which she thanked her fans for remembering her even though she had been away from social media since October 2019.
"Thank you for asking about me," she wrote in response to fan inquiries.
Sherine boycotted social media platforms in October 2019 after she was slammed online over a controversial comment during a concert in Lebanon.
