Egypt's health ministry said in a statement on Saturday that 1,499 coronavirus patients have fully recovered and left isolation hospitals, bringing the total number of recoveries to 41,137 since the detection of the first case on 14 February.
Health ministry spokesman Khaled Megahed said in the statement that the total number of COVID-19 deaths has reached 4,834 nationwide, after registering 29 deaths during the past 24 hours.
The ministry reported 238 new coronavirus infections on Saturday, which brings the total number of confirmed cases nationwide to 94,316.
Despite the recent lifting of lockdown measures, Egypt has been seeing a significant drop in its daily detected coronavirus cases, with the country's daily record — 1,774 infections recorded on 19 June — unbroken to date.
In a separate statement by the cabinet on Wednesday, Health Minister Hala Zayed said that Egypt's weekly COVID-19 infection rate has gone down for the fifth consecutive week.
