All Cabinet ministers withdrew from the People's Assembly's Thursday session, after Member of Parliament Ashraf Badreddin, head of the Economic Committee of the Freedom and Justice Party, accused ministers of embezzling public funds.
However, parliamentary speaker Saad El-Katatni, did not find any ministers named in the document Badreddin presented. Only government officials were listed, sparking anger from the Cabinet's side and prompting them to withdraw from the session.
After a heated debate, Badreddin apologised for his remarks. El-Katatni then asked the Cabinet ministers to return, which they did thirty minutes later, adding that the "session cannot continue without their presence."
Today's session was focused on discussing the possibility of withdrawing confidence from the Cabinet, following the results of an evaluation of Prime Minister Kamal El-Ganzouri's first official report to parliament.
