Injured Ahly players Abdullah El-Said, Said Moawad, Ahmed Shokry and Mohamed Barakat began rehabilitation training on Tuesday amid the team’s preparations for the first leg of round of 16 of the CAF Champions League match against Stade Malien slated for 27 April.
"We are preparing all injured players for the African clash. Defender Wael Gomaa’s return is confirmed," Ahly doctor Ehab Ali said following a morning training session.
Key Red Castle player Mohamed Barakat will re-join the regular training programme this week after suffering muscle pain earlier.
In the absence of Goma’a, El-Said and Moawad, the Egyptian champions defeated Ethiopian Coffee 3-0 last week following a goalless draw in an away game.
Malian side Stade Malien are set for a showdown against Ahly in the 16th round of the CAF Champions League after smashing Tonnerre of Benin 5-2 in the second leg of the 32nd round on aggregate.
