Egypt has voiced its appreciation for the ongoing efforts exerted by Kuwait to end the Arab rift and settle the crisis between Qatar and the Arab Quartet, according to a statement released on Tuesday by the Egyptian Foreign Ministry Spokesman Ambassador Ahmed Hafez.

Egypt appreciates "the continued efforts exerted by Emir of Kuwait and the Kuwaiti state to mend the Arab rift and settle the crisis between Qatar and the Arab Quartet, which started several years ago, within the framework of Kuwait's usual role and its keenness on maintaining stability in the Arab region," the statement read.

"We hope these endeavours yield a comprehensive solution that addresses all causes of this crisis and guarantees strict and serious commitment to implement what will be agreed upon," Hafez added.

Egypt always prioritises the preservation of Arab solidarity, stability, and security, out of its responsibilities and stances, according to the statement.

The Arab Quartet, which consists of Egypt, Saudi Arabia, Bahrain and the UAE, was formed in mid-2017 as a diplomatic bloc to coordinate political stances to pressure Doha to end what the four countries deemed as Qatar's interference in the internal affairs of Arab countries and its support to terrorist organizations.

The four countries severed all diplomatic and transport links with Qatar in June 2017.

Doha has denied the accusations.

In recent days, Kuwait intensified its efforts to mediate a solution to end the crisis between the Quartet and Doha.

The US is also mediating for a resolution to the crisis.

Saudi Arabia said on Saturday that "a resolution of the crisis seems within reach."

The four states have repeatedly said they are ready for dialogue to mend the rift if Doha shows a willingness to deal with their demands and stop its "hostile" policies in the region.

Egypt accuses Qatar of the terrorist-designated Muslim Brotherhood.
