The annual inflation rate went down in May to reach 4.9% against 5% in the same month in 2020, according to the Central Agency for Public Mobilization and Statistics (CAPMAS).
In the monthly statement, CAPMAS said the inflation rate in May increased by 0.6% in comparison with April to reach 112.9 points.
The rise in the inflation rate in May was attributed to an increase in the prices of food, fruits, vegetables, fish and seafood.
