Elneny had an outstanding performance in the London derby last Wednesday against Chelsea which ended with a rare away victory for the Gunners.
“I will say that for me, he is one of the most important players in the squad. For what he does when you give him the chance to play and for the things that he does when he does not play,” Arteta told reporters during the pre-match press conference ahead of their clash against Manchester United.
“He is a phenomenal person and then you have to judge the footballer as well that sometimes does not get probably the credit that he deserves,” the coach added.
When asked if Elneny could sign a new deal with the team, Arteta replied “it is another one where we are going to have another conversation at the end of the season and see what we do with that one as well.”
Arsenal have a tough schedule in their race to stay in the top four of the Premier League as they will face Manchester United on Saturday.
