The show is the result of a collaboration with the famous Bolshoi, Mariinsky and St. Petersburg theaters, as well as with the Opera and Ballet Theater of P.I. Tchaikovsky in Perm.

Advertised as the famous opera's "contemporary interpretation," the event will feature international soloists: soprano Maria Bayankina (Aida), mezzo-soprano Irina Shishkova (Amneris), tenor Akhmet Agadi (Ramfis), and bass-baritone Alexander Markeev (the Pharaoh).

Opera Aida has special thematic and historic significance in Egyptian culture and is one of the most popular operatic works performed in Egypt. It was composed by Giuseppe Verdi to a libretto by Antonio Ghislanzoni and is based on a story written by French Egyptologist Auguste Mariette, commissioned by khedive Ismail Pasha.

Opera Aida was first performed in Cairo on 24 December 1871. Throughout the decades, the opera has continuously been performed in Egypt at the old Khedieval Opera House then the new Opera House.

The famous performances also took place at Deir Al-Bahari Temple (Hatshepsut Temple) in Luxor in the 1990s, and in front of the Giza pyramids.

This is the first time for the Red Sea resort to witness a performance of Aida.

The highlight of El-Gouna's previous artistic activities has been the El-Gouna Film Festival, which ran for five consecutive years until 2021. The festival has been suspended this year with no further information provided regarding its possible return.
