The legendary Scottish footballer and manager who was seventh on the all-time scorers list for the Reds till Salah scored in the fifth minute in a Premier League game on Monday took to Twitter to wish the team's Egyptian star more success:
Salah's goal in the game against Aston Villa in the Premier League yesterday helped him reach 172 goals for the Reds in all competitions thus matching Dalglish's seventh-place record on the Reds' all-time top scorers list.
Sir Kenny Dalglish, 71, who played for the Reds from 1977 to 1990 reached the 172-goal mark after 515 matches in all competitions in 13 seasons with the team.
However, Salah, 30, who joined the Reds in 2017, reached the 172-mark goals in all competitions after 276 matches in under six seasons with the the team.
Salah has scored 125 league goals in 195 appearances with the team and is now just three goals short of reaching a record held by former Reds striker Robbie Fowler.
He became the second player in Liverpool's history to score 50+ goals and make 50+assist (125 goals and 50 assists) after Steven Gerrard (120 goals and 92 assists).
He won the Premier League's Golden Boot three times since joining the Reds.
