Based on reports by the Egyptian Meteorological Authority (EMA) as well as the ministry’s early warning system, sporadic dust storms in the west of the country are expected to affect much of northern Egypt on Tuesday, including Greater Cairo and northern Upper Egypt. Intermittent airborne dust is expected on Wednesday, a statement by the ministry said on Monday evening.
There will also be a noticeable decrease in thickness of the atmospheric boundary layer, which will increase the feeling of a concentration of pollutants, the ministry’s statement said.
Minister of the Environment Yasmine Fouad also affirmed that the ministry is tracking air quality index indicators through its constant monitoring system across the country.
Citizens can file complaints about air pollution of any kind with the ministry around the clock using the 19808 hotline, the ministry added.
Sporadic strong winds are expected on Thursday across Greater Cairo, Lower Egypt, the northeast coast, and northern Upper Egypt, the EMA said.
The North Coast will experience sporadic strong winds Friday through Sunday, the EMA affirmed.
