The injury, which was sustained in a game against Masry in the EPL on 12 January, prevented Savio from participating with the team in the FIFA Club World Cup in Morocco in early February.

“Bruno Savio joined the team’s training after recovering from a knee injury and concluding his rehab program,” read a statement published on Ahly’s official website on Thursday.

Savio, 28, was Ahly's marquee summer signing from Bolivia's Club Bolivar.

Since joining in September, he has made 15 appearances with the team, scoring one goal and providing three assists.

His return comes in time as the Red Devils face a busy schedule on the continental level over the next few days.

On Saturday, the 10-time African Champions  will face Cameroon's Coton Sport at home in the postponed game from the first round of Group B games of the CAF Champions League.

The following Friday, they will also face a tough mission away from against Mamelodi Sundowns of South Africa in the 4th round of the continental tournament.

Ahly are now third in Group B with a single point from two games.

They trail behind leaders Sundowns -who are in first place in the group with seven points - and Al-Hilal of Sudan - who lie second with six points.

However, both sides played one more game than Ahly.
