Argentinean captain Lionel Messi won the vote to claim his eighth Ballon d'Or.

The Liverpool's winger didn't attend the ceremony that was held in Paris.

Salah dropped out of the top 10 for the first time since he started competing in the Ballon d'Or in 2018.

The 31-year old international finished sixth in 2018, fifth twice in 2019 and 2022 and seventh in 2021.

Liverpool had a blank season in 2022/2023 which impacted Salah's ranking. The Reds finished fifth in the Premier, just short of the Champions League spots.

However, he has been in a stunning form this season as he scored 10 goals and provided four assists in 13 matches across all competitions.

He also helped Liverpool win the Community Shield last season and led Egypt to qualify for the 2023 African Cup of Nations.
