“The Rafah Border crossing has been open and has not been closed at any stage since the beginning of the crisis in the Gaza Strip,” Abu Zeid emphasized in a short statement.
“The party hindering the entry of aid into the Gaza Strip is the Israeli side, through obstructive procedures, conditions, and baseless justifications,” he added.
Abu Zeid expressed strong condemnation for all allegations to the contrary, affirming Egypt's rejection of any attempts to undermine its support for Palestinian rights and solidarity with the Palestinian people in Gaza.
The spokesperson called on those spreading or claiming the closure of the crossing to refer to statements issued by the United Nations organization and international relief officials who visited the crossing.
“All these statements confirmed that the Egyptian side has taken all necessary measures to ensure the entry of humanitarian aid into the Gaza Strip promptly and sustainably,” Abu Zeid said.
The obstructive Israeli measures are the reason for the delay in delivering aid to the deserving individuals among the Palestinian people in Gaza, he stated.
Meanwhile, Al-Qahera News reported on Monday, citing an informed source, that 161 trucks carrying aid crossed the Rafah border crossing from Egypt to Gaza.
The source added that 600 Egyptians and foreign nationals departed from Gaza through the crossing.
