Cairo Commercial Chamber to offset losses incurred by demonstrations

LE5 bn allocated to compensate businesses damaged by the turmoil and demonstrations in Egypt

Cairo’s Commercial Chamber has announced that a committee will be formed to set compensation request forms for tradesmen affected by recent protests.

In response to the finance ministry’s demand, affected shops will be compensated according to the level of damage as determined by field visits from chamber representatives.  

According to Ali Shoukry, deputy president of the chamber, LE5 bn has been allocated to meet compensation claims. In addition, permits will be made available for trade trucks to drive around Cairo during curfew hours.
