Russian side Anzhi Makhachkhala are not interested in signing Real Madrid star Cristiano Ronaldo, Anzhi's sporting director and former Brazil star Roberto Carlos revealed late on Monday.
The Portuguese superstar, who joined Real Madrid three years ago in a world-record £80 million deal from Manchester United, announced early last month that there were ongoing complications between him and the royal club.
The 27-year-old forward refused to celebrate his first two La Liga goals of the season and his statements after the match that he was unhappy at the club made him the focus of attention.
Ronaldo was recently linked with a return to the Premier League giants, Man United, and the latest reports say that the Russian mega-rich club are also interested in his services.
"Lots of people have asked me whether Anzhi are after Cristiano Ronaldo. I haven’t come here [Spain] to sign Cristiano, though," Carlos told Marca.
"Cristiano is happy here. If he doesn’t want to celebrate his goals, then us, the people watching the games will celebrate them for him.
"He shouldn’t worry, people like him a lot. Problems can be resolved," added Carlos.
Reports in Spain have suggested Ronaldo’s unhappiness is down to Real’s refusal to hand him a new contract worth a staggering £500,000-a-week, but according to Daily Mail he is thought to have resolved his issues with the club.
