Chefs working in Upper Egypt are sharpening their knives for a competition on 20 September. The top prize here is LE1,000. Not bad. Chefs have until 18 September to sign up.
But, actually, this competition is in preparation for the HACE 2012 exhibition and chef competition in October, which includes a top prize of $3,000 (LE17,700) sponsored by Meat Livetock Australia.
The Luxor competitions are part of a large, four-day international trade fair and set of activities related to food and hospitality at the Cairo International Convention Centre. The International Hotel Supplies Exhibition, one of the largest conferences in Egypt, hosts pavilions: catering, laundry, bakery, pastry, food & beverage, hotel furnishing, coffee and tea.
