During a meeting with prominent intellectuals in Cairo, Egyptian Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly discussed several pressing issues. Minister of Foreign Affairs Badr Abdelatty also attended the meeting.
Madbouly emphasized the government's commitment to maintaining stability and security, highlighting President Abdel-Fattah El-Sisi's continuous directives to ensure ongoing communication with citizens. This includes explaining the country's challenges and listening to diverse viewpoints to shape a comprehensive vision for Egypt's future.
"We are living through a critical, unprecedented period marked by rapid political changes," said Madbouly, noting that events worldwide are unfolding at an extraordinary pace, reshaping global strategies and goals. He acknowledged that governments face overwhelming challenges, with developments occurring so quickly that long-term planning is increasingly difficult.
"It wouldn't be an exaggeration to say that within just a few hours, events can unfold that will impact us for decades," Madbouly added, emphasizing the need for short-term strategies to maintain stability while responding to these shifts.
Despite these challenges, he reassured that Egypt remained a stable, secure haven in a turbulent region.
Egyptian Foreign Policy
Madbouly also addressed Egypt's foreign policy, underscoring that the country has no external ambitions and is focused on safeguarding national and regional security. He stressed that the Egyptian Armed Forces are fully prepared to defend the nation’s borders and resources. Reiterating President El-Sisi's stance, he stated that external threats pose no serious concern, as the military can efficiently handle them.
He further noted that the principles of protecting national interests guide Egypt's foreign and economic relations, adding that the government’s commitment to security extends beyond military concerns to encompass political, economic, social, and developmental stability.
Madbouly highlighted the government's efforts to provide essential services and meet basic needs despite unprecedented challenges. He warned of the dangers of disinformation and rumours, which aim to undermine public trust, urging citizens to seek credible sources of information.
He called for national unity, stressing that internal stability is key and can only be achieved through an informed citizenry aware of the country’s challenges.
Madbouly concluded by emphasizing the vital role of intellectuals and thought leaders in stabilizing and advancing the country. He encouraged open dialogue and diverse perspectives to guide Egypt through this regional turmoil.
The meeting took place amid growing tensions in the Middle East, including Israeli aggression in Gaza and Lebanon, raising concerns about a potential large-scale regional conflict.
