Egypt stocks saw mild gains on Wednesday with the main EGX30 index rising 0.22 per cent to reach 5,969 points.
The market had soared on Tuesday on the back of President Mohamed Morsi's visit to the US, which signalled a calming of recent tensions with Washington.
On Wednesday, turnover reached LE778 million (some $128 million), a slightly lower level than those seen in the previous session. Out of 187 shares traded for the day, 85 gained value while 92 dropped.
Talaat Mostafa Group, Egypt's largest listed real estate developer, gained 0.35 per cent and was the most active share in the session. It was followed by another developer, Palm Hills Development (PHD), which fell 2.45 per cent to sit at LE3.18 per share.
The real estate sector, which saw an insignificant drop of 0.01 per cent, was the most active in the session. The sector has enjoyed a strong recovery since the beginning of 2012, gaining a whopping 118 per cent.
Investment Bank EFG-Hermes, meanwhile, dropped 2.03 per cent to close the day out at LE12.06 per share.
Ezz Steel, for its part, fell by 1.67 per cent while chalking up LE25 million in turnover.
Egyptian investors accounted for 82 per cent of Wednesday's trading, net-buying to the tune of some LE16 million. Arab investors, meanwhile, represented net-sellers, at some LE19 million.
