More than 950 children have been killed in Gaza over the past two months, according to the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA).

In a statement posted on its official Facebook page on Sunday, UNRWA cited UNICEF figures, stating: “Children in Gaza are enduring unimaginable suffering. According to UNICEF, over 950 have been reported killed in just two months.”

The agency added that children are “starving, displaced, and exposed to indiscriminate attacks,” insisting that “this must stop.”

It concluded: “Children must be protected.”

Israel imposed a deadly blockade on Gaza on 2 March, halting all humanitarian aid and commercial goods.

It then unilaterally ended the two-month ceasefire—brokered by Egypt, Qatar, and the United States—and resumed its genocidal campaign on 18 March.

Since then, airstrikes and shelling have intensified across the Gaza Strip. On Sunday alone, Israeli attacks killed at least 14 Palestinians, including women and children, according to local health authorities.

One Israeli strike targeted a tent sheltering displaced civilians in the central city of Deir Al-Balah, killing a mother, her two children, and another relative, according to Al-Aqsa Martyrs Hospital, as reported by the Associated Press.

In the Jabaliya area of northern Gaza, five people, including two women and a child, were killed in another strike, the Palestinian Health Ministry said.

Additional attacks claimed at least five more lives, local hospitals reported.

Among the martyrs was Palestinian journalist Hassan Majdi Abu Warda, who was killed along with several members of his family in an Israeli airstrike on their home in Jabaliya, according to the WAFA news agency.

His death brings the number of journalists killed since the start of Israel’s war on Gaza to approximately 221, with hundreds more injured or detained.

The Palestinian Health Ministry reported on Sunday that the total death toll from Israel’s genocidal war on Gaza has now reached 53,939, with 122,797 people wounded since 7 October 2023.

Since the resumption of hostilities on 18 March, 3,785 people have been killed and 10,756 injured.

In the past 24 hours alone, 38 bodies and 204 wounded individuals have arrived at hospitals across Gaza.

Many victims remain trapped under rubble or lying in the streets, unreachable by ambulance and civil defence teams.

The reported figures do not include casualties from northern Gaza, where most hospitals remain inaccessible.
