Egypt FM holds talks with European officials over rising Middle East tensions
Egypt’s foreign minister, Badr Abdelatty, held a series of phone calls on Friday with counterparts from France, Greece, Cyprus, and Iraq, as concern mounted over regional stability following an Israeli strike on Tehran.

According to the Egyptian foreign ministry, Abdelatty warned that the unjustified Israeli attack on Iran risked escalating an already volatile situation and could lead to a broader conflict.
He stated that the international community must act swiftly to prevent further deterioration and to support efforts to restore stability.
Abdelatty also called for respect for international law and the sovereignty of states.
Israel targeted sites in the Iranian capital early on Friday, reportedly in response to Iran’s earlier drone and missile barrage.
The strike, believed to have focused on facilities linked to Iran’s nuclear programme, has fuelled fears of a wider war.
In his calls, Abdelatty said there was no military solution to the region’s crises and urged intensified diplomatic efforts to contain tensions.
The ministers agreed to stay in close contact and to coordinate closely as events unfold.
