Both ministers discussed the latest regional developments, particularly the situation in Gaza. They stressed the importance of resuming the ceasefire and ensuring the delivery of humanitarian and relief aid amid the worsening humanitarian crisis in the Strip.
According to the Egyptian Foreign Ministry, Abdelatty highlighted the intensive efforts by Egypt, Qatar, and the US to achieve a swift and sustainable ceasefire in Gaza.
He also stressed the need to achieve a just and sustainable resolution to the Palestinian cause through the implementation of the two-state solution and the establishment of an independent Palestinian state based on the 4 June 1967 borders, with East Jerusalem as its capital.
Furthermore, the two sides addressed the postponed UN two-state solution conference in New York.
The conference, co-chaired by France and Saudi Arabia, was initially scheduled to be held on 17-20 June, but was delayed indefinitely due to the Israel-Iran war.
During the call, both ministers agreed on the importance of Iran and Israel fully committing to the ceasefire. They emphasized the importance of taking practical and concrete steps that contribute to de-escalation and pave the way for political and diplomatic solutions.
The two ministers also discussed strengthening and enhancing the strategic relations between Egypt and France.
