El-Sisi, Al-Burhan discuss Sudan crisis, regional security

President Abdel-Fattah El-Sisi met on Monday with Sudan’s Sovereign Council President Abdel-Fattah Al-Burhan in Alamein City to discuss the ongoing conflict in Sudan and efforts to restore peace.

El-Sisi reaffirmed Egypt’s support for Sudan’s unity, sovereignty, and stability and said Cairo remains ready to assist efforts aimed at ending the conflict.

The two leaders emphasized the urgency of increasing humanitarian aid in light of deteriorating conditions on the ground and agreed on the need for coordinated regional and international efforts to support the Sudanese people.

Discussions also addressed regional security, with a focus on developments in the Nile Basin and the Horn of Africa. Both sides reiterated their shared positions on national security priorities and emphasized the importance of cooperation on water security.

They rejected unilateral actions in the Blue Nile Basin and called for adherence to international law to ensure the equitable use of shared water resources.

The leaders also discussed ways to strengthen bilateral ties, including economic cooperation and Sudan’s reconstruction, with a focus on integration and mutual development.
