In a statement, the Egyptian Ministry of Foreign Affairs said the conference will be organized in cooperation with the United Nations and the Palestinian government.
FM Abdelatty also briefed Barrot on the latest developments regarding the Gaza ceasefire talks, humanitarian aid delivery to the strip, and the release of captives and detainees.
He stressed the urgency of reaching a ceasefire in Gaza to end the catastrophic humanitarian crisis there amid the ongoing Israeli aggression. Moreover, Abdelatty urged the international community to bear the responsibility of de-escalating the conflict and alleviating civilians' suffering.
The two ministers also discussed the upcoming international conference, which will be co-chaired by France and Saudi Arabia, on resolving the Palestinian issue. In this respect, Abdelatty reaffirmed Egypt’s insistence on a two-state solution based on the 4 June 1967 borders, with East Jerusalem as the capital of a future Palestinian state.
Furthermore, both top diplomats underscored the importance of stabilizing the fragile ceasefire achieved between Israel and Iran. Abdelatty also highlighted the role of the E3 group — France, Germany, and the UK — in supporting diplomatic efforts aimed at reducing tensions and advancing negotiations over Iran’s nuclear file.
