The heatwave will persist across Egypt this week, accompanied by higher humidity levels that increase the feeling of heat, the Egyptian Meteorological Authority (EMA) said on Sunday.
The EMA expects hot to extremely hot weather during the daytime, but warm nights and early mornings this week across most regions.
Morning mist is expected to be denser in some locations, particularly on roads connected to the northeastern coasts, Suez Canal cities, and central Sinai.
From Sunday to Tuesday, strong wind activity is expected to impact several locations across the country, especially Salloum, Marsa Matrouh, Alexandria, Kafr El-Sheikh, Greater Cairo, the northern coasts, South Sinai, and northern Upper Egypt.
Parts of Egypt's deep south and Halayeb and Shalateen will possibly see sandstorms.
Additionally, maritime conditions are expected to be unstable in parts of the Gulf of Suez, affecting navigation in the Red Sea.
Starting Wednesday, a rainfall of varying intensity is forecasted, maybe accompanied by thunderstorms, in southernmost regions like Abu Simbel, Aswan, Halayeb, and Shalateen.
According to the EMA, temperatures in Cairo and Lower Egypt are expected to reach 39°C.
Meanwhile, visitors to the North Coast should expect cooler temperatures of around 35°C.
In South Sinai and northern Upper Egypt, daytime temperatures are expected to rise to 42°C.
However, Egypt's deep south will remain the hottest, with daytime highs reaching 44°C.
The EMA advises citizens nationwide to avoid direct exposure to the sun and stay hydrated.
