In a statement on Wednesday, NMA Chairman Ahmed Al-Muslimani confirmed that the council's role is to provide "essential ideas, visions, and assessments."
Dr. Ashraf Al-Arabi, former planning minister and current dean of the Planning Institute, will chair the council.
All members will serve in a voluntary capacity, receiving no financial compensation for their contributions, according to the statement.
The newly formed council comprises a diverse group of academics, media professionals, and former government officials. Its members include:
• Abdel Fattah El-Gebali, Chairman of the Media Production City
• Dr. Thuria El-Badawy, Dean of the Faculty of Mass Communication, Cairo University
• Dr. Mohamed Sameh Amr, Dean of the Faculty of Law, Cairo University
• Dr. Omar El-Husseiny, Dean of the Faculty of Engineering, Ain Shams University
• Dr. Hossam El-Din Abdel Fattah, Dean of the Faculty of Engineering, Cairo University
• Dr. Ayman Shetawi, Dean of the Faculty of Business, Alexandria University
• Dr. Ahmed El-Gohary, former President of the Egyptian-Japanese University
• Engineer Ali Salem, from the National Media Authority
• Hisham Soliman, former official at the United Company
• Journalist Ezzat Ibrahim, Editor-in-Chief of Al-Ahram Weekly and Ahram Online news website
• Dr. Hussein Issa, Technical Secretariat of Economic Authorities
• Anwar Abdel Rashid Shehata, from the Ministry of Finance
• Ahmed Sayed Hassan Ali, from the Ministry of Finance
The advisory council will also be responsible for presenting its perspectives on enhancing the financial, professional, and technical performance across the NME's various sectors, the statement noted.
Established in 2016, the NME is a regulatory body of state-owned media outlets.
