The 33-year-old winger struck in the closing minutes to seal Liverpool’s victory after Federico Chiesa had restored the Reds’ lead. Salah had already set the record last season with his ninth opening-day goal.

He now sits ahead of four legends tied on eight goals each: Jamie Vardy, Wayne Rooney, Alan Shearer, and Frank Lampard.

According to OptaJoe, Salah also holds the record for most combined goals and assists (15) on Premier League opening days.

The Bournemouth strike added to Salah’s overall Premier League tally, taking his combined contributions to 271 (185 goals and 86 assists) in 289 matches since joining Liverpool from AS Roma in 2017.

He is now just five behind Wayne Rooney’s record of 276 goal involvements.

Salah has won the Premier League Golden Boot four times and helped Liverpool to major honours, including two league titles (2019/20, 2024/25), the 2018/19 UEFA Champions League, the UEFA Super Cup, and the FIFA Club World Cup in 2019.

Last season, he was pivotal in Liverpool’s title triumph, finishing as the league’s top scorer with 29 goals and providing 18 assists in 38 appearances.
